Abraham Murley was a 2016/2017 Fellow at the Fine Arts Work Centre in Provincetown, and an artist in the 2018 London summer Intensive with the Slade School of Art and the Camden Art Centre.
While at MacDowell he made drawings and paintings of the MacDowell campus landscape as well as portraits and images from memory, dreams, and fiction. His memory painting The End of the World Monday Morning will be included in a group exhibition at the Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia in 2021.
Given
to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the
half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow
and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914. Chamberlin was
primarily a painter, but also provided designs for the Lodge and an
early renovation of the main hall.
