Alan Berks completed, as writer/director, Ringtone, a collaboratively created site-specific performance in a Minneapolis art gallery with six actors, video, text messenging, cell phones, song, dance, story, character, plot, and a live dj. He has written a bunch of other plays that were a little less complicated, though not much, most of which have been performed in Minnesota. He is also the editor of the online performing arts journal for Minnesota's performing arts, Minnesota Playlist.

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)
Alan Berks worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.
Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
