Alexandra Karastoyanova Hermentin was born in 1968 in Moscow and later moved to Vienna. She is a composer and pianist who holds a master's degree in composition from the University Mozarteum Salzburg and a master's degree in piano from State Music Academy in Sofia, both with First-class honors. She also studied piano at the University Mozarteum and the Music College "L. Pipkov" in Sofia. Her commissions include, WDR, ORF, Province of Salzburg, Hams Chicago, and Start Festival Salzburg, among many others. She has performed at Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall and has to been numerous festivals such as Sounds ways St. Petersburg, ZeitTON von Vienna, Summartònar/Faroe Islands, and Nova Musika Sofia
