Alina Gallo worked on translating Giovanni Pascoli's volume of poetry Myricae (1891) from Italian. She also worked on her first novel, Leela. Her visual art has been exhibited at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, the ICA in Portland and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students.
