Amia Yokoyama is a multimedia Los Angeles based artist and educator who works across experimental animation, video, ceramics, sculpture, and installation. She received her M.F.A. in experimental animation from CalArts and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2017.
She has exhibited her work at Sebastian Gladstone Gallery, The Craft Contemporary Museum, In Lieu Gallery, The Japanese American Cultural Center, and The Brand Art Center in Los Angeles, as well as Jeffrey Deitch Projects, The Drawing Center, Anthology Film Archive in New York City. She is working on a new multimedia installation which will be exhibited in NYC in the fall of 2024.
While at MacDowell, Yokoyama made holograms from ceramic sculptures and created a video installation using ceramic and video projection, as well as paintings and drawings based on 3D scans of her ceramic sculptures. She plans on showing the holograms created in a solo show in 2025.
