Amy Garofano is a graduate from Cranbrook Academy of Art. While at MacDowell, she developed a body of work that uses upholstery techniques to think about form and interior spaces. The icehouse, built of fieldstone in 1914–1915, was a practical part of Marian MacDowell’s plan for a self-sufficient farm.
