Ann Kalmbach has an M.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology and a B.F.A. from SUNY New Paltz. She has produced a number of artist books with her long-time collaborator, Tatana Kellner, under the acronym KaKe Art. She has also been a resident artist at Visual Studies Workshop, University of Southern Maine, MacDowell, Sirius Art Center in County Cork, Ireland, and Hessisches Landes Museum in Darmstadt, Germany. She is a co-founder of Women’s Studio Workshop and is the executive director.

Cheney

Ann Kalmbach worked in the Cheney studio.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
