Annette Allen is the director of the Humanities Doctoral Program at the University of Louisville, and president of the Kentucky Writers’ Coalition. She also has taught literature and writing at Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC, where she was director of the Center for Women Writers. Her poems have appeared in The Southern Poetry Review, The Greensboro Review, Boulevard, and Poetry East. Her latest collection is entitled A Country of Light.

New Hampshire Studio, originally named Peterborough Studio, was given to MacDowell by Mr. and Mrs. William Schofield, Mrs. H. A. Chamberlain, Mrs. Andrew Draper, and Miss Ruth Cheney.
