Annita Sawyer is a licensed psychologist and a member of Yale’s clinical faculty, in practice for over thirty years. Her essays and stories have appeared in a number of literary and professional journals. Her memoir was awarded the 2013 Santa Fe Writers Project Nonfiction Grand Prize. Her essay "The Crazy One" was selected by Susan Orlean for the Bellevue Literary Review 2012 award for nonfiction.

She worked on a memoir, SMOKING CIGARETTES, EATING GLASS while at MacDowell.

Mansfield

Annita Sawyer worked in the Mansfield studio.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club.
