Arnold Belkin (1930-1992) was a muralist, painter, and visual artist from western Canada, most widely known for his contribution to the Mexican muralism tradition. Belkin began training at the Vancouver School of Art, and later attended the Banff School of Fine Arts. After completing his studies at Banff, Belkin pursued his passion for Mexican muralism and moved to Mexico to attend the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda” where he studied under Agustín Lazo, Carlos Orozco, and Andrés Sánchez Flores. Belkin produced 28 major public murals and several smaller ones which were exhibited in 90 individual exhibitions and more than 50 collective exhibitions. Belkin also designed sets and costumes for 40 Mexican stage productions.
