Arpad Sandor (June 5, 1986-February 10, 1972)
Arpad Sandor, a leading piano accompanist in the US and abroad, died in Budapest at the age of 75. Sandor had been an accompanist of Jascha Heifetz, Lily Pons and other celebrated artists. He was also a private operatic coach. He made his debut as a pianist at an orchestral concert in Budapest in 1916, and later became an accompanist.
He once said he was a pianist, “not because I had to, but because I wanted to.”
