August Lamm is a writer and visual artist. She is the author of one art book, Crosshatching in Pen & Ink, and one novel, Lambing Season (Dialogue Books, 2025). Her stories have been published in The Rumpus, Muumuu House, and Forever Magazine.

At MacDowell she edited her second novel, Nutmeggers, about a woman living abroad who must decide whether or not to return home to see her dying father. She also expanded a short story collection, completed a pamphlet on the ills of modern technology, painted a book cover for her debut novel, and learned how to play the clarinet.

Sorosis

August Lamm worked in the Sorosis studio.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
