While at MacDowell, Beatrys Lauwaert worked on the installation "prayers" painted upon 99 half-transparent fabric banners, to be exhibited in a hospital in Antwerp (Belgium) from December 2001 to June 2002. She would participate in "Brugers 2002, Station 2 Station" and have two solo exhibitions in September 2002 in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), at "De Brakke Ground" and "Nanky de Vreeze" gallery.

Mixter
Beatrijs Lauwaert worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
