Ben Hoffman's fiction has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Granta, The Missouri Review, The Southern Review, The Sun, Zoetrope, and other journals.

He is the recipient of a literature Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Carol Houck Smith Fellowship from the Wisconsin Institute of Creative Writing, and a Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University.

During his time at MacDowell he worked on his first novel, about the 1979 partial nuclear meltdown at TMI in central Pennsylvania, where he is from.

Studios

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)

Ben Hoffman worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
