She was a Banister Writer-in-Residence, Sweet Briar College, Virginia, 1980-82; Editorial staff member, William James Edition (Harvard University Press, Cambridge, MA), 1984-87; Editorial staff member, The Correspondence of William James (University Press of Virginia, Charlottesville), 1988-94; freelance book reviewer, writer, editor.
