Carman Moore studied composition with Luciano Berio, Vincent Persichetti, and Hall Overton. His compositions have been performed by the N.Y. Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Chamber Music Soc. of Lincoln Center and many others. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2013. His orchestral work MADIBA, honoring Nelson Mandela, was premiered in Feb. 2015 by the American Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. He founded, composes for, and conducted the electro-acoustic Skymusic Ensemble (NYC).

His work at MacDowell was on a symphonic work MADIBA, which was premiered by the American Composers Orchestra in Feb. 2015. In 2012 he created REQUIEM FOR LA LUPE also at Watson Studio.
