Carolie Parker is a poet and visual artist whose work is suggested by the social landscape of Los Angeles, a fairly reckless experiment in rearranging the natural world to serve human needs. Her drawings, sculpture, and written work issue from a freewheeling approach to building place, combining random methods of composition with more formal structures.
She was recently a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome and a resident at Camac centre d’art. Her work has come out in The Denver Quarterly, Now Culture, Trick House, and River Styx Magazine. Recent exhibitions in Los Angeles include solo shows at POST and Carl Berg Gallery and group shows at Edward Cella Art + Architecture and the Armory Center for the Arts.
