Caroline Mallonee is a Buffalo-based composer and performer. Mallonee’s music has been programmed at venues in New York City including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space and many more. Inspired by scientific phenomena, visual art, and the propagation of sound, Mallonée has been commissioned to write new pieces for ensembles including the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Spektral Quartet and the Firebird Ensemble. Her music has been played by soloists including pianists Eric Huebner, Steven Beck, Stephen Gosling, and John McDonald. She is a professional singer in the Vocalis Chamber Choir and is the director of the Walden School Creative Musicians Retreat, a week-long festival for composers and improvisers held in New Hampshire each June. As a violinist, Mallonee was a founding member of pulsoptional (based in North Carolina) and Glissando (based in New York City).

Chapman

Caroline Mallonee worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
