Catherine Kernan is co-founder and partner of Mixit Print Studio, a professional open rental printmaking studio in Somerville, MA and co-author of Singular & Serial: Contemporary Monotype and Monoprint. She earned her M.A. at Wellesley College, her B.F.A. at Cooper Union, and her M.F.A. at the University of Wisconsin. Her work is represented across the United States and has been exhibited, in solo and group shows, nationwide for decades. She has been a Partner at Mixit as well as Director of Maud Morgan Arts at the Community Arts Center in Cambridge, MA.

Kernan earned fellowships and grants from MacDowell, Somerville Arts Council, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, St. Botolph Club Foundation, Winchester Foundation, Ballinglen Arts Foundation, and Pollack Krasner Foundation, among others. She has also taught at Rhode Island School of Design, School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts College of Art, Wellesley College, and many more. Her prints have appeared in Tracking Changes, Between Ink and Paper, 100 Boston Artists, and other renowned publications.

The Graphics Studio (as it was originally named) was converted to its present use in 1972–1974 through a grant from the Putnam Foundation, and originally served the property as both a power house and pump house.
