Charles Hoag is an American composer who was born in Chicago and raised in Iowa. He is Emeritus Music Professor of the University of Kansas. In addition to his teaching career, he has also been a bassist in several professional symphony orchestras. His music has been played by many vocal and instrumental ensembles including the Verdehr Trio, the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and the Dale Warland Singers.

The yellow clapboard New Jersey Studio, located on a grassy, sloping site, was funded by the New Jersey Federation of Women’s Clubs and built as an exact replica of Monday Music Studio (1913).
