.chisaraokwu., M.D., M.S.P.H., is an inter- and transdisciplinary poet-artist and healthcare futurist. Her work has been published in Obsidian, ROOM, The Washington Post, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and more. She has received fellowships from Cave Canem, Brooklyn Poets, Anaphora Arts, the Vermont Studio Center, and the California Arts Council.
While at MacDowell, .chisaraokwu. drafted and revised poems for a bilingual biomythography exploring the wake and helical migration of childhood trauma experienced by two African women living in different centuries and geographies. She also drafted more than 20 poems for a second collection in conversation with the late poet, writer, and educator Lucille Clifton. Between writing, she created two mixed-media collages and a short poetry film related to the biomythography. This work is featured in the May 2023 issue of Hayden’s Ferry Review.
