Christina Seely’s work stretches into the fields of science, design, and architecture. Interested in humans’ contemporary relationship to nature and time, Seely’s expedition-based work finds its home in the conversation between the photographic image and our contemporary relationship with the natural world. Her work has been exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and is featured in many public and private collections including; The Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), The West Collection (Philadelphia), Yale University, Carleton College, and The Walker Art Center (Minneapolis). She has been an artist in residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts, a Fellow at MacDowell, a participant on the Arctic Circle Program, and a recipient of a year-long Public Arts Commission from the city of San Francisco. Her work was included in "Staking Claim: A California Invitational" at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego in 2013 and she received the 2014 Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship. A solo exhibition of her latest project "Markers of Time" is showing at The Perlman Museum at Carleton College in the fall of 2014 and her first monograph Lux, will be co-published in early 2015 by Radius Books and the Museum of Contemporary Photography.

Mixter
Christina Seely worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
