Christopher Sindt earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Davis, and a B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships for his poetry, including the James D. Phelan award and fellowships at MacDowell and the Blue Mountain Center. He is the author of two collections of poetry, The Bodies, and most recently, System and Population. In addition to poetry, his research interests include the literature of California, and environmental literature. He is the co-director of SMC's Center for Environmental Literacy.

Christopher Sindt worked in the New Hampshire studio.

New Hampshire Studio, originally named Peterborough Studio, was given to MacDowell by Mr. and Mrs. William Schofield, Mrs. H. A. Chamberlain, Mrs. Andrew Draper, and Miss Ruth Cheney. The studio was renamed in 1943. The Gilbert Verney Foundation established an endowed maintenance fund in 1990, and a bequest in memory of MacDowell Fellow Victor Candell underwrote the…
