Conrad Hilberry (1928-2017) was an American poet. Hilberry went to Oberlin College for his undergraduate work, and continued his studies with a M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was editor of the literary magazine Passages North and co-editor (with Michael Delp and Herbert Scott) of the anthology Contemporary Michigan Poetry: Poems from the Third Coast (1988). He was a professor of English at Kalamazoo College from 1962 to 1998. Hilberry's literary works have been recognized and highlighted at Michigan State University in their Michigan Writers Series. Hilberry is the author of nine books of poetry as well as a nonfiction account written in the first person about two sociopath brothers titled Luke Karamazov (1987).

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)

Conrad Hilberry worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
