David Werfelmann is a composer of instrumental, vocal, and electronic music whose works are performed and recorded by ensembles and soloists throughout the U.S.

Among the many professional ensembles that have performed his works are the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the TEMPO Ensemble, and the Hear Now Ensemble. David’s music can be heard on five CD recordings, including the Fischoff Award-winning Barkada Quartet’s premiere album Aventura. He has received commissions from ensembles including Chamber Project Saint Louis, the HOCKET piano duo, and several soloists who frequently perform his music in concerts at home and abroad.

He has a D.M.A from USC, a M.M. from Indiana University, and a B.M. from Lawrence University. He is an associate professor of music at Webster University.

While at MacDowell, he composed works in the electro-acoustic medium inspired by his experience hiking the 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail.
