Debra Weinstein is a poet and the author of the novel Apprentice to the Flower Poet Z. (Random House, 2004). Her poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, The National Review, Tikkun, and The Portable Lower East Side.

Weinstein earned a B.A. in literature and creative writing from State University of New York Binghamton and a M.A. in English from New York University. Weinstein received New York University’s Bobst Literary Award for Emerging Writers upon publication of her volume of poetry, Rodent Angel (NYU Press, 1996). She is also a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship for poetry and a New York State Foundation for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship for Fiction. She has been in residence at both MacDowell and Yaddo.

Sorosis

Debra Weinstein worked in the Sorosis studio.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
