Deepak Kumar is a South-Asian American playwright, lyricist, and composer based out of the internet. His work has been produced with Underscore Theatre in Chicago, the National Asian American Theatre Company (NAATCO), Musical Theatre Factory, PACE University in New York, Faultline Theater in San Francisco, Shotgun Players in Berkeley, and the O'Neill Theatre Center (NPC '22) in Connecticut.
He is the author of Baked! The Musical (co-written with Jord Liu), which has been developed around the country and won best lyrics, best lead performer, best supporting performer, and best ensemble at the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival 2020. Baked! appeared at the NAMT Festival of New Musicals in 2022.
While at MacDowell, Deepak worked on a new play, Responsible Disclosure, which focuses on contributing meaningfully to the science of cybersecurity research in a deeply political world.
