Diana Cao's poetry and fiction have appeared or are forthcoming in Ploughshares, The Threepenny Review, The Yale Review, The Georgia Review, 32 Poems, and elsewhere. She has received support from the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and International Literary Seminars, and she is Just Buffalo's 2024 Poetry Fellow, selected by Megan Fernandes.

Cao is a winner of Nimrod International's 2023 Neruda Prize, selected by Tarfia Faizullah, and her debut collection, Slipstream, won the 2024 Berkshire Prize at Tupelo Press, selected by Matthew Rohrer. It will be released in 2026. Her chapbook, Relational, is available at sixthfinch.com/store.

While at MacDowell, Cao wrote a short story, assembled a new poetry chapbook, and began a novel. She finalized edits on another story coming in the 2025 winter issue of The Threepenny Review, and her first full-length collection of poetry, Slipstream, won the 2024 Berkshire Prize at Tupelo Press.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
