A longtime reporter for The Washington Post and The Oregonian, and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in feature writing, I started writing poetry on a mid-career Knight Fellowship at Stanford University. Four poetry collections: each won publication through national manuscript contests. The latest: Tomorrow Too: The Brenda Monologues, based on a story I first reported in the newspaper. Graduate of Amherst College; MFA from Warren Wilson College. Awards: Discovery/The Nation Prize; Finishing Line Press Prize; Cider Press Review Book Award. Board member, Friends of William Stafford.

Mansfield

Don Colburn worked in the Mansfield studio.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club. The small, shingled frame structure with stone foundation was originally fronted on the west side by a neat white picket fence and gate, a garden, and a stone pathway…
