Poet Eleni Sikelianos has been working on personal and evolutionary narratives of inheritance for many years, spanning familial, animal, plant, and cultural realms. Her most recent book of poetry, Your Kingdom (2023), takes up, via ecopoetic inquiry, our deeply intertwined symbiogenetic roots.
At MacDowell, she worked on a hybrid history in prose, poetry, and archival photographs that considers both the familial and cultural legacies of her great grandparents’ paleophilic, queer, utopian efforts to revive the ancient Delphic festivals at an archaeological site in 1927 and 1930. Previous hybrid books include The Book of Jon and You Animal Machine, while poetry titles include What I Knew and Make Yourself Happy.
