Born in Los Angeles and based in New York City, Elisabeth Condon takes a synesthetic approach to painting landscape, layering references to scroll painting, wallpaper, postwar abstraction, and glam rock aesthetics in spaces both real and fantastic. Formerly Fellow or artist-in-residence at the UCross, Montello, and Morris Graves Foundations, Wave Hill, Carrizozo Colony, National Parks at the Florida Everglades and Grand Canyon, Swatch Art Peace Hotel Shanghai, and Yaddo, in 2020 Condon was Artist in Residence at Tlacopac in Mexico City.
At MacDowell, Condon created an installation with poured acrylic paintings on linen, a series of collages, and a scroll that infused printmaking and sumi-e brush painting techniques with autumn colors. These paintings were exhibited at Lesley Heller Gallery, which represented her before its closure. Prior paintings from the series were exhibited concurrent with Condon's residency in the 2019 solo exhibition "Effulgence" at Emerson Dorsch, Miami. Condon is a 2018 recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Program Award.
