Elizabeth Barber is an Iowa-based writer whose reporting and essays have appeared in Harper's, The New Yorker, The Point, Bookforum, Reuters, and elsewhere.
At MacDowell, Barber worked on multiple forthcoming magazine essays and began developing her first book. Her most recent essay for Harper's, published in winter 2024, was supported by The John Templeton Foundation.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
