Elizabeth Nonemaker worked on a commission for the Baltimore based harp and saxophone duo Pictures on Silence, as well as her first piece for full orchestra. She is a composer and arts journalist. She colaunched the arts publication Ampersand, and has worked for Children's Radio Foundation and KPCC's "The Frame."

Elizabeth Nonemaker worked in the Sprague-Smith studio.
In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
