Elliot Schwartz

Discipline: Visual Art
Region: Brooklyn, NY
MacDowell Fellowships: 1995

Elliot Schwartz has always had a rough edged immediacy about him – as a photographer he has always sought the hidden layers in his work. As StudioEIS’ president he has been the anchor and the ballast that any creative organization needs.

He received his training at The University of Cincinnati in Industrial Design and studied painting and photography at The California Institute of the Arts and Yale University. Elliot’s work can be seen in public collections at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The International Center for Photography, the Albright Knox Museum, and The International Museum of Photography in Rochester, NY. Elliot has shown his work in galleries in the United States and abroad and is the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships.

He is currently collaborating on a book of poetry and photography with the critic and poet, Richard Milazzo.
