Emily Maloney is the author of Cost of Living (Flatiron Books, 2020), about the failure of the American healthcare system as seen through her work as an ER tech and EMT and in the pharmaceutical industry. She worked on the book proposal at MacDowell and made headway on her memoir. Her essays have appeared in or are forthcoming from The New York Times, the Washington Post, Glamour, Virginia Quarterly Review, Best American Essays, and other outlets. She is based in Evanston, Illinois.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement.
