Ernesto Mestre-Reed is the author of three novels, The Lazarus Rumba, The Second Death of Única Aveyano, and Sacrificio. He has translated fours novels from the Spanish, and has received fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. He is professor of fiction at Sarah Lawrence College and Brooklyn College.

Chapman

Ernesto Mestre-Reed worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
