Ester Partegàs is a visual artist and educator. Employing a wide range of sculptural, photographic and painterly approaches, she examines the most unassuming details of everyday life as a record of shared affective reality between people and things, refocusing the familiar while proposing a space where the material and immaterial might coexist.
While at MacDowell, she continued working on “Invisible Forces,” a recent series that bring together photographs of found objects and street situations with poetic observations and philosophical enquiries in the form of a flyer with tear-off tabs. She also started new works from photographic documentation of mattresses discarded on the streets of New York.
Her work has been exhibited at the Transborder Biennial in El Paso Museum of Art, TX and Museo de Arte Ciudad Juárez, BAM Brooklyn, and Drawing Center, New York. Partegàs has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally in venues such as the Museum of the City of New York; Sculpture Center, LIC, NY; the Whitney Museum of American Art at Altria, NY; Columbus Museum of Art, OH; Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona MACBA; Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; the Arnolfini, Bristol; the Moscow, Athens and Busan Biennials. Her work is represented by Foxy Production, New York; Christopher Grimes, Santa Monica, CA; and NoguerasBlanchard, Madrid/Barcelona.
