Novelist Eva Goldbeck (1901-1936) was born in Berlin, Germany and was the only child of political writer Eduard Goldbeck and soprano singer Lina Abardanell. The family settled in Evanston, IL and later New York City after the first World War. Goldbeck married the composer, Marc Blitzstein, in 1933.
