Ferenc Barnás is a Hungarian writer and author. Barnás studied in Debrecen, Budapest and Munich before graduating with degrees in Hungarian language, literature, and aesthetics from Eötvös Loránd University, where he also earned a doctoral degree for his study of Herman Hesse. Barnás then went on to teach before beginning a career as a freelance writer, and a job at the Ernst Museum in Budapest. Barnás published multiple works, including, Az élősködő (The Parasite), Bagatell (Bagatelle), A kilencedik (The Ninth; English translation by Paul Olchváry), and Másik halál (Another Death). He has also been the recipient of a variety of accolades, including the Sándor Márai Prize (2001), the Tibor Déry Prize (2006), the Aegon Art Award (2013), and the Glass Ball Award (2013).

Ferenc Barnás worked in the Sorosis studio.

Sorosis Studio was funded by the New York Carol Club of Sorosis. The small, masonry studio was designed by F. Winsor, Jr., the architect who also designed Savidge Library (1926) and Mixter Studio (1927).
