Hannah Marks is a bassist, bandleader, composer, and educator living in New York City. As a bandleader, she has performed at several major festivals, including the Detroit Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, 80-35 Music Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival, Center City Jazz Festival, and Indy Jazz Festival. Her debut album, Outsider, Outlier, was released in 2023 on Out of Your Head Records.

She has worked with jazz luminaries like Geoffrey Keezer, Nasheet Waits, Terri Lyne Carrington, Miles Okazaki, Ingrid Jensen, Kalia Vandever, Matt Wilson, Ted Nash, Morgan Guerin, and Marcus Printup, and has performed at heralded NYC venues like Birdland Jazz Club, The 55 Bar, The Stone, and The Jazz Gallery.

Marks is an alum of the Stanford Jazz Workshop Mentor Fellow program (2022-2023), the Woodshed Network (2021), Betty Carter Jazz Ahead (2019), and the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music (2018). She was recently awarded a South Arts Jazz Road grant to tour the jazz quartet music on the West Coast in 2024.

Marks composed seven songs while at MacDowell. Three songs were for her singer songwriter project to be released on her second album, and four songs were for her jazz quartet.

Delta Omicron

Hannah Marks worked in the Delta Omicron studio.

Delta Omicron Studio was funded by members of the international musical fraternity in 1927. The building design is somewhat medieval in character, with an unusual cedar shingle pattern, a steeply pitched slate roof, intersecting gables, and small windows.
