Hi Kyung Kim is a South Korean Composer. She earned a B.A. from Seoul National University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. After completing her studies, Kim took a position as assistant professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She returned to South Korea in 1985 and 1998 for research and study of Korean music. She has been composing numerous ensembles, concertos, movements, and even multi-media pieces for decades. Her awards include the Eisner Prize in Creative Arts, two Di Lorenzo Composition Prizes, U.C. Berkeley’s George C. Ladd Prix de Paris, and the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters’ Walter Hinrichsen Award.
