Ivy McLendon is a musician and filmmaker from Philadelphia by way of Charlotte, NC. They have released three albums, four EPs, and countless collaborations, but they’re most excited by an upcoming choreo-doc, dey/dem, that explores gender nonconformity in the Black American South/New Afrika and the African continent, for which they served as editor and composer.
During their time at MacDowell, McLendon worked on the exhibition design for their multimedia installation Exploitation Index: Affirmations for the Nonhuman. The work has foundations in Agnes Denes’ Psychograph, Afropessimist theory, and documentary film.
