While at MacDowell, J. L. Jacobs, whose second collection of poetry, "The Leaves in Her Shoes," was published in 1999 by Lost Roads, was working on a fourth collection of poems, "From the Territory" - recounting the removal, the folklore and the folk medicine of the Choctaws from "The Trail of Tears" to their re-settlement in Indian Territory. Her third collection, "Streets as Elsewhere," is currently under review for publication.
