Jaime deBlanc-Knowles grew up in New Zealand, Australia, and an assortment of American cities. A graduate of the M.A. program at the University of Texas at Austin, she is currently at work on a collection of short stories set in New Zealand and Australia, as well as a novel. She is the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and a Lighthouse Works Fellowship. Her short fiction has been published in Post Road and Meridian.

Jaime deBlanc-Knowles worked in the Sprague-Smith studio.
In January of 1976, the original Sprague-Smith Studio — built in 1915–1916 and funded by music students of Mrs. Charles Sprague-Smith of the Veltin School — was destroyed by fire.
