James Sturm is a cartoonist whose graphic novels include The Golem's Mighty Swing, Market Day, and Off Season. He cofounded a newspaper (Seattle's The Stranger) and a college (The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, VT).

James Sturm worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
