Jami Nakamura Lin is the author of the illustrated speculative memoir The Night Parade (Mariner Books/HarperCollins and Scribe UK, 2023), which was one of Vulture and New York Magazine's top ten memoirs of 2023, and received starred reviews from the Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus. Her work has appeared in the New York Times and many other publications, and has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts/Japan-US Friendship Commission, We Need Diverse Books, Yaddo, Sustainable Arts Foundation, Illinois Arts Council, and others.

While at MacDowell, Lin worked on a draft of her second book, The Girls of Godzilla, Illinois, a speculative novel.

Jami Nakamura Lin worked in the Calderwood studio.

In the winter of 1998, motivated by his passion for reading, Stanford Calderwood donated funds for a new writers’ studio.
