Janet Peery worked on short stories and a nonfiction manuscript. Her 1996 novel, The River Beyond the World, was a finalist for the National Book Award. She is a recipient of the Rosenthal Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Whiting Writers Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
