Jeffrey Nytch is a composer, educator, and arts entrepreneurship leader. His works have been performed at major venues throughout the U.S. and Europe by artists such as Richard Stoltzman, Third Coast Percussion, the Seattle Symphony, NY Chamber Symphony, Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, and many others.
His book, The Entrepreneurial Muse (Oxford) is a seminal work in the field of arts entrepreneurship. In recent years he has become interested in how musical works can be created in partnership with community organizations in order to raise awareness of issues of social importance.
At MacDowell, Nytch began work on a concerto for contrabassoon and orchestra, commissioned by James Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Symphony, celebrating the Pittsburgh millworkers and unions that were at the epicenter of the early labor movement in America.
