Jen Banbury is an American playwright, author, and journalist. Banbury, a graduate of Yale University, published the play How Alex Looks When She’s Hurt and the novel Like a Hole in the Head and now works as a freelance writer for organizations such as NPR and Salon.com. In 2003 and 2004 Banbury worked as a correspondent for Salon reporting from Baghdad. Her story “Guantanamo on Steroids” was one of the first reports of the abuse from American soldiers at Abu Ghraib and her story “Night Raid in Baghdad” was reprinted in Boots on the Ground: Stories of American Soldiers from Iraq to Afghanistan.

Jen Banbury worked in the Mansfield studio.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club. The small, shingled frame structure with stone foundation was originally fronted on the west side by a neat white picket fence and gate, a garden, and a stone pathway…
