A native of Ohio and a longtime New Yorker, Jennifer lives and writes in Alexandria, Egypt, where she is working on a handful of short stories and a political novel whose narrative begins in January 2011. Prior to relocating from New York to Egypt in 2006, Jennifer screened her short films at the Brooklyn Museum and AFI/Discovery Channel SilverDocs Film Festival, as well as at festivals in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Dallas, Tokyo, Athens, and London.

Jennifer Gauthier worked in the Mixter studio.
Built in 1927–1930, the Florence Kilpatrick Mixter Studio was funded by its namesake and designed by the architect F. Winsor, Jr., who also designed MacDowell's original Savidge Library in 1925.
